TRAVEL TEST COVID 19
Hotel Colosseum Rome
If you need a coronavirus test for travel,
you might be wondering where you can get one, what type of test you’ll need to take, how long it will take to get an appointment (and wait for results) and what it will cost.
Since if you test positive to the antigen test, you’ll have to get tested with the molecular test, it’s better to make directly the molecular test, the PCR Covid-19 test.We can reserve for you the molecular test in a private analisys laboratory not far from the hotel. The result will be available within 24 hours, and is written in italian and in english. If you prefer and on request, you can also ask to write your passport informations on the document.
The price is about Euro 60.
1) Molecular RT-PCR COVID 19 swab test or ‘tampone molecolare”
The nasopharyngeal and throat RT-PCR swab tests detect the presence of COVID-19 genetic material in nose and throat. This test is typically highly accurate and usually does not need to be repeated.
Test results are usually given 24 to 48 hours after getting tested.
2) Antigen Swab Test or “Test Antigenico” or “test rapido“
Rapid antigen tests look for the surface proteins of the virus (antigens) and not the viral genome (as is the case with the molecular test).
The sample is collected using a nasopharyngeal swab and the response times are very short, around 15 to 30 minutes.
The results of the tampone rapido are less accurate than the one of the tampone molecolare. In fact, if you test positive to the antigen test, you’ll have to get tested with the molecular test. The antigen test isn’t considered an accurate diagnosis at a clinical level.
